Wallpaper Download and Colored Discs Update
over 2 years ago – Sat, Sep 25, 2021 at 07:14:46 PM

Hello backers,

as promised, we are here with an update for the mobile wallpapers! Click here to access the download and enjoy some of your favorite characters on your phone. We were able to unlock this stretch goal during the campaign thanks to your support on social media. Thank you! As a small gift we also added a desktop wallpaper for those who want to enjoy the Soulgivers design at full screen.

As promised, we are also showing you some tests we did to solve the color problem of the colored discs on top of the character tokens. We decided to prioritize the color over the material translucency since it is important that the population colors pop right away and make each Soulgivers token immediately recognizable. Since the colored discs are not a part of the Soul token, non-translucent colored discs are not really an issue in terms of lore either.

We tested the new discs in two shades of teal and orange to see which one fits better with the rest of the translucent components. We are now waiting to receive them in order to see what they look like and make the final choice. We do not like to decide and approve the components through pictures, because, depending on the camera and light conditions, the color shade can be very different from what it seems to be or we expect it to be.

We also wanted to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the incredible support you have been showing us, especially after our last update. We were a bit scared of giving you that piece of news and honestly a bit low-spirited due to the issue, but your amazing response was very refreshing and gave us strength. Thank you!

Production Update
over 2 years ago – Fri, Sep 17, 2021 at 07:01:21 PM

Hello backers,

Sorry for making you wait so long for an update, but we wanted to fully assess the situation first.

Let’s start with order:

  • We left in August with the production of all the components ongoing. As soon as the products were ready, we asked the manufacturer to send us a final sample of the game to check that everything went smoothly. In the meantime, we organized a more thoroughly on site quality control with one of our trusted collaborators in other to proceed and start putting together the game boxes and ship them. However, when we received the game sample, we noticed that the colors were not those we chose and confirmed especially for the Souls and the colored disc on top of the characters.
  • The on site quality control revealed that, when producing the Souls, the material dried up creating  different shades of teal and orange, some of whichwere so dark that looked like a completely different color, and therefore not all the Souls came out the same uniform color. For us, this is highly unacceptable, so now we need to discard all the wrong Souls and make up for any missing amounts.
The incorrect Soul color (to the left) compared to the previously approved components.
  • The character disc revealed to have a problem which is that it changes color when it comes in contact with any type of glue. We were never notified of this problem before, and we cannot make it do without glue at this moment, because it ensures the durability of the component especially when putting on and taking off the Fragment from the token. It was very frustrating to find out about this problem now, also because as you know, we reprinted this very same component, because we were not satisfied with the final color. However, we are already working on a solution and we are just waiting for the new tests to be finished next week and confirm them so that we can finish production.
This photo shows how, in the left token, the glue literally dulled the brightness of the colored disk.
The same problem also occurred with the teal discs. In the token to the left, the glue was applied only to half the token to show the difference.

We apologize for the further delay but finishing and shipping the game as the components were would have not been fair to you. We do not want to send out a product we are not proud of just to save a bit of time. We understand that you have been waiting long, and we are trying to do our best to speed up the process of fixing this problem, but we do not want to jeopardize the overall quality. We assure we chose a competent and well-known manufacturer, so we did not expect this kind of problems. As soon as the manufacturer sends us the photos and videos of the new fixed components, we'll share them with you.

On a brighter note, we received and approved the new artbook sample and it’s currently being printed! It will be a full fledged artbook and it will feature all released heroes and the explanation of how Luca created and illustrated them.

In the meantime, we have been working on the digital side of Soulgivers. The Soulgivers website is almost ready! You'll find all the characters, the artwork, the multiverse lore and short stories and much more! You'll also be able to download the updated rulebooks in the available languages (Italian, English, French, German, and Spanish) and the Hardcore game mode. Next week, we'll also post an update where you'll find the downloads link to the mobile wallpaper.

Once again, thank you for your patience. We are working towards a game you'll be proud of.

Update: Paper Mass Production Samples
over 2 years ago – Sat, Aug 07, 2021 at 12:56:33 PM

Dear backers,

This week we’ve received the paper mass production sample from our manufacturer, so we wanted to show you what we got and give you our feedback!

We are very pleased of how the components came out. We are especially pleased with the cards and the illustrations. Achieving the colors and brightness we wanted was not easy at all, but our manufacturer did a great job and matched our reference prints perfectly. We only need to reprint the turn recap cards, because the colors were not as good as the previous sample, but the issues have now been solved and we can continue production and apply the needed finishes and other small touches.

The manufacturer also sent us videos and photos of the map tiles and the trays you’ve unlocked during the campaign, and we should receive the components early next week in order to check them. They look great, but as with every component so far, we like to inspect them in person in order to make sure that all the colors and the quality are perfect. In addition, we're waiting to see the new Anomaly cards.

We've also received the extra set of the full art foil cards you've unlocked as a KS exclusive Stretch Goal during the camping. The overview is great and playing with the light effects makes us feel like we're children again. As you can see, the layout of these cards leave much more space to the illustration, but still has everything you need to remember what the ability does. This set of cards is intended for collectors or expert players who have mastered the power of the Soulgivers.

Also, we wanted to share with you that we’ll be taking off the next couple of weeks. Since all the components have been produced and the manufacturer is now working on printing the game pieces and on applying the finishes, we thought this will be the best time to take off some time and rest, in order to come back more energetic and creative than before! But don’t worry, if we'll receive any news or photos from the manufacturer, we’ll definitely share them with you! We hope you'll enjoy your summer vacations as well! Buone vacanze!

All Plastic in Production + Reminder Cards
almost 3 years ago – Wed, Jul 28, 2021 at 12:33:56 AM

Hello backers!

We are so excited to communicate that most of the plastic components have already been finished and they are now just waiting to be printed, which will take some time since it requires some extra precision in order to do a good job. Here’s some raw photos directly from the production!

As we stated in the last update, a while ago we received the latest prototype and we weren’t really satisfied with how certain component colors came out, so we took the chance to improve them. So we sent in a QC to our manufacturer, and we worked together to fix the problem. In this way, we were able to improve the colors of the Souls, making them brighter, the orange dice, which were too dull, and even the colored discs that go on top of the Soulgivers.

However, when we received samples of the Shell character discs, they looked more yellow than orange. (Who knows, maybe we can use them to inspire us for a new population!) As we said countless times, we want each component to be perfect in all their details and the colors are really an important part of Soulgivers aesthetic but also game aspect. The orange sample disc we received was not what we expected at all, so we spent the past couple of weeks organizing another meeting with the manufacturer in order to improve the orange color disc and its brightness. So this week, after something like 15 different colors were patiently tested, we finally reached a satisfying Shell color!

By the end of this week, the manufacturer will send us the paper mass production prototypes and samples of the plastic components that have been produced. This passage will allow us to check all the colors and make sure that Luca’s illustrations are at their best.

We’ve been receiving emails and messages about shipping. As we said in previous updates, global shipping, especially imports from China, are quite a conundrum at the moment, so we do not want to give you misleading information as for now. As soon as production is finished, we’ll have a better idea of how long it will take to import the products and ship them to you. We know we are asking you to be patient for a little longer, but we wouldn’t be realistic giving you any information now.

CARDS REMINDER

Just a quick reminder: we are charging the cards through BackerKit for shipping and any add on you added! Please check your card and make sure that the payment can go through smoothly.

Production Update + Charging Cards Soon
almost 3 years ago – Sat, Jun 26, 2021 at 12:54:25 PM

Dear Decaying siblings,

The last few months have certainly been very busy for us, but we are satisfied with our achievements.

PRODUCTION UPDATE!

In the last few weeks, we received the new prototype from our manufacturer and we are very happy with the result. Since we are true perfectionists, we took the opportunity to fix a couple of details that are important to us in order to make the game even more beautiful and polished. We want to make sure the game you’ll receive lives up to our expectations, but more importantly, yours, and that it will be the star of your board game collection.

BACKERKIT

Now we are finally ready to take the plunge and start the Soulgivers mass production. This means that in a week's time we will officially close the pre-order page and charge credit cards on Backerkit. If you need to add any item to your order, do it now! After the cards are charged, you won’t be able to modify your order any longer.

TIMELINE

We also want you to know that we are particularly concerned and care about respecting the shipping timeline of the game and we are working every day to limit your wait, but today's international shipping scenario, as you probably have read in the news, is extremely dramatic, especially when it comes to importing from China. At the moment, the costs for the containers have increased disproportionately along with a dramatic increase of the cost of raw materials, however, we decided to absorb these extra costs completely, in order to protect our backers as much as possible. We only ask you to continue walking with us on this road to Soulgivers release and to keep on encouraging us, as you have been doing so far. These have not been an easy couple of years for new projects and companies like ours, but we have clear goals in mind, and we will do everything we can do to achieve them.

Since we want to be transparent with you with everything we've been doing in the past few months, here's the production objectives we achieved so far!

As soon as the production is on safe tracks and the global shipping scenario becomes a bit clearer, we will post here and on all our social accounts a general timeline both for the delivery of Soulgivers and for future events that we really can't wait to present to you!
